GOLD AND SILVER LIZARDS
The Varadaraja Perumal temple at Kanchipuram as the silver and gold lizards on the ceiling of a small chamber in this temple. With mystical diagrams of the sun and moon near it, this large lizard is supposed to wipe out all the accumulated “doshams” if we get to touch it. Touching these lizards on the ceiling nullifies the negative effects that we might have accumulated in the course of our living, knowingly or unknowingly. Belief is that one will be relieved of all diseases if one prays to Lord Varadarajan and touches the Lizard on the way out.
3500 YEARS OLD MANGO TREE
There is sacred mango tree inside ekambareswarar temple which is supposed to be more than 3500 years old. This tree is the sthala vruksham temple tree of this temple. There are four branches of tree representing the 4 Vedas and the tree bears 4 different types of mango fruits in 4 different seasons and This temple has five spacious corridors (prakrams) as well as a stunning 1,000 – pillar hall.

Chitragupta is a chief accountant and the minister of lord yama. A hindu god assigned with the task of keeping records of all the goods and evil deeds of humans and accordingly decides to send them to heaven and hell.

There is one more thing kanchipuram is famous for – for its silk industry which dates back almost 400 years. silk sarees commonly known as Kanjivaram Sari are wovened by pure mulberry silk and are very well known in india for its purity, fine quality.and craftsmanship, which has helped earn its name. An estimated 5,000 families are involved in sari production in kanchipuram.
Food /cuisine
kanchipuram is specifically famous for its idli known as kachipuram idli or koli idli. It is a vegetarian dish made with rice and pulse. It is famous for its unique test and its massive size. Tamilnadu is mostly famous for its vegetarian food but due to kanchipuram being a costal district you can also enjoy traditional seafood dishes which are fresh as well as spicy in flavour there are many restaurants which serves north indian cuisine as well as continental, chinese cuisines and other international cuisines.
